Ronald Gene Davis,84, passed away August 17, 2021, after a year battle with cancer. Ron was born in De Leon, Texas, but was raised on the family farm in Stamford, Texas.

Ron graduated from Stamford High School in 1956. After attending McMurray College in Abilene, Ron moved to Odessa and worked for eleven years for General Tire and Rubber. In 1970, Ron moved to Portland area to join Reynolds Metal Company (aka Alcoa) as an operations supervisor. He retired at age 60, after 27 years.

Ron is survived by his wife, Lana Lee Hopkins Davis; his sons, Daryl Norman (Christy) Davis, and their children- Taylor Ann (Chris) Lawrence, Addie Michelle Davis, and Andrew Kampras. Ron’s first great-granddaughter was born in October 2020, and his last trip was to meet Riley- Ann Renee Davis. He is also survived by his daughter, Terri Lynn (Wayne) Carriker, and their children- Grace Elizabeth, Joshua Wayne, Alexander Davis, and Catherine Mae Carriker. Also surviving are two sisters, Sandrus (Larry) Dippel and Marcia Joyce Swensen, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, their spouses, and children and grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Valentine and Fairest Queen Blankenship Davis, his oldest sister, Alpha Fairest Maloney, and nine half-brothers and sisters.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, 10:00 a.m., August 28, 2021, at St. Christopher’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, Wildcat at 7th, Portland, Texas. No flowers please. Make a donation to St. Chrisopher’s (P.O. Box 386, Portland 78374) or your church or favorite charity.
