Julian Tijerina

Julian Tijerina, 86, of Victoria, was summoned by the Lord on Saturday, August 31, 2019. He was born March 7, 1933 in Victoria to the late Jose and Rafaela Ybarra Tijerina.

Julian was known to many in the Rockport area as Mr. T. At the young age of 14 he worked as a porter at the Ford Dealership in Aransas. He later opened Mr. T’s Paint and Body Shop and serviced the Aransas and Rockport areas for over 30 years. Julian was a devout Catholic and served as a member of the Knight of Columbus of Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed spending time with family, music, playing Bingo, and watching classic movies and Westerns.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Olga Prado Tijerina; sisters, Benita "Tia Red" Martinez and Paz Castro; and brothers, Trinidad Flores and Joe Sacramento Tijerina; his daughters Mary Ester Castro and Lilly Tijerina, his sons Michael Tijerina and John Tijerina, his grandsons Julian Javier “J.J.” Castro and Nicholas Tijerina.

He is survived by his daughter Belinda Garcia; son Christopher Lee Tijerina, grand children Jessica Castro-Dunican, John Garcia Jr, Michael Tijerina, Simon Garcia, Roxanne Garcia-Hawkins, Bailey Tijerina, Alec Tijerina, John Tijerina, Josiah Tijerina, Elora Tijerina, and 25 great grandchildren.

Julian will be dearly missed by those who loved and cared for him.

Visitation will be held Friday September 6, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
