On Saturday, March 23, 2019, Alejandro “Alex” Montez Galvan, beloved brother and uncle and loyal friend, passed away at the age of 59.
Alex, or Uncle Alex as he was lovingly known by many, was born at home in Rockport, the 9th of 12 children, to Porfirio and Vidala (Montez) Galvan. Alex grew up in Rockport, where he spent the bulk of his life. He dearly loved his family and took pride in his ever-growing hoard of nieces and nephews. While not a wealthy man, he was rich in loved ones and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, hard-working attitude, and infectious smile.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Valentin Galvan, and his sister Lucinda Fields. He is survived by siblings Luis Galvan (Flora), Linda Galvan, Porfirio Galvan Jr. (Phyllis), Janie Mullen (Bob), Irma Pulido (Mingo), Chris Allen (Carrey), Rosie Searls (Richard), Damaso “Pepe” Galvan, Maria Elsa Morton (Jay), countless nieces and nephews, and even more grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 2-9pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, TX. The Chapel will open Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 8am, and the procession will begin at 9am. A Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10am in Rockport and burial to follow in Gregory Cemetery.
