• Clyde Edward Barton, age 75, passed away September 26, 2017 at his home in Aransas Pass, Texas after an 18 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Clyde was born on January 26th, 1942 in Beaumont, Texas to Glen and Exa May Barton. He graduated from South Park High School and attended the University of Houston. Although he studied architecture, Clyde ultimately found success as an industrial contractor. He founded and grew the Barton Company an industrial painting & coating company in Clute. He built the company from a two man operation to having hundreds of employees. He fostered a hardworking environment where employees were like family.

Clyde had many passions aside from business. He was an avid pilot for most of his life. He took his first flying lessons at the young age of 14. Through the years he flew everything from a single engine plane to a small Russian Jet, including an award winning Luscombe and an Albatross he went to Argentina himself to get. Besides flying, he loved the art of building, painting and showing his numerous projects. Much of his free time was spent at the airport with his buddies, talking shop and building planes. Clyde also loved the water and boats. He grew up fishing with his dad and passed that love along to his daughter and grandkids. He took a year and built his own 23’ boat by hand. In the last 15 years his ranch in Kenedy became his favorite place to be. The tranquility of the land and watching the deer and other wildlife off the back porch brought him great joy. He loved bird hunting with his friends and family, fishing in the pond with the grandkids and managing the cows.

Throughout his life, Clyde was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents Glen & Exa May Barton and his newborn daughter Courtney Renee Barton.

He is survived by his wife Jane Barton, their daughter Nikki Villarreal and husband Curtis, granddaughter Dylan and grandson Carson, his sister Glenda Hulet, a large extended family and many friends.

The family would like to thanks Dr. Wolfe and his team at MD Anderson in Houston for their efforts in his fight and kindness and support during his time with them.

Visitation with the family will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 404 Azalea St. Lake Jackson, TX 77566 from 10:00-11:00am with a memorial service to follow on Saturday September 30, 2017.
